Headlines have the power to grab people’s attention and entice action. The great ones are interesting, entertaining and engage an audience’s curiosity so they read the article and share it with their friends.
An article’s headline can literally be the difference between ranking well on a search engine like Google and not at all.
But why? Well, on average, 8 out of 10 people will read headlines, whereas only 2 will read the article.
Hopefully that got YOUR attention.
But let’s dig just a little further. Why would this affect your rankings?
The reason is because Google (as an example) wants the best articles to appear for a given keyword.
In order for Google to make this judgement, they assess how many folks click the ones that appear.
If no one is clicking your article — one with a bad title, then the algorithm assesses its not good and lowers the ranking.
The Takeaway
Your title makes the difference you’re seeking… so make the effort to do it well.
